Track 2 on our new album is called “Go Viral”. Prescient? In any case, as is the case for all performers, we lament that we’ve had to cancel all our shows for the foreseeable future. What a strange time. In order to keep our new album flowing into ears far and wide, we are setting up for a giveaway of the downloadable version. Check https://www.facebook.com/jennismusic for details or sign up for our mailing list and we’ll let you know as soon as you can access it.
Dennis is a Canadian snowbird who flies south to Costa Rica each winter. We look forward to reconvening for more fun times come spring. All to best to everyone for 2020!
Were very grateful for this positive review of the new album in Canada’s fab music magazine Penguin Eggs. http://jennis.ca/wp-admin/post.php?post=1509&action=edit
A few choice bits:
Riffs of blues, rock, folk, reggae, and more-exotic global seasoning find their way into these catchy hybrid grooves.
It’s the offbeat wordplay that keeps you listening, and counter-culture or pop-culture references will resonate most readily with the boomer generation.
… good intentions feel designed to make you smile as you’re pondering life, the universe, and everything.
Our new video for the song Sneak Past The Mirror, soon to be released on our sophomore album The Mirror, is now online! We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do. Big thanks to videographer Olya Glotka for a job well done and to all our friends and neighbours who stepped forward to be a part of it. What fun it was to work with you all! The video had its premiere today on the music blog Canadian Beats . We will post it on our video page next week after Canadian Beats readers get the first viewing. Click on the still from the video below to be taken to the premiere page and let us know what you think.
We’re stoked about the new album and can hardly wait to share it with you! If you are near Guelph or Toronto, please come celebrate with us. Seating is limited at both venues so advance tickets are recommended (and cheaper!)
We’ll have our drummer Tom Wolf at both shows to rock things up and opening will be The Mantra Movement playing African rhythms and more.

We are set with our plans for the Guelph and Toronto launch parties for our new album “The Mirror”! We have a special show in preparation for Friday, October 4 at the Heritage Hall in Guelph and at Toronto’s Burdock Music Hall on Sunday, October 6 (6-8pm matinée). Secure your ticket to the Burdock show by clicking here. We’ll have guest back-up vocalists Shannon Kingsbury and Tannis Slimmon (aka the collective “Shannis”) at the Guelph show, singing with Jennis as well as a few of their own songs. Drummer Tom Wolf will help us rock things up at both launches, along with his daughter Laurin and her partner Jason Maraschiello. They will be rocking some traditional African rhythms to get your booty shaking!
We’ve hired Sarah French Publicity to promote our new album. We’re super proud of it and feel we have far surpassed the quality of the first record with much higher production values and songs that had time to distill to their best form before capturing them in the studio.
We have a music video almost ready to premiere for the song “Sneak Past The Mirror”. We can hardly wait to share it with you all! Thanks to all our wonderful friends who took part in the filming and, especially, to videographer Olya Glotka for her fantastic work!
The new album will be added to our Record Archives page upon its release.
We’re making a video for our new song Sneak Past the Mirror, soon to be released on our sophomore album The Mirror. What fun we had in this creative pursuit! Thank you to Olya Glotka for your imagination and technical skill as videographer.
Thanks to Dean Drouillard for a splendid job mixing all FOURTEEN songs for the new album. Next up will be the mastering process and album graphic design. Meanwhile, we’ll be practicing up the songs that have yet to be performed live so that our audiences will enjoy a batch of new sounds from us when we return to the stage in spring.
Jennis is pleased to announce that we have drummer and dear friend Tom Wolf aboard so that Jennis can adapt to a wider range of venues. Duo shows can be more suitable for house concerts and small venues. With Tom, we can kick up the energy with a more dance party vibe. We enjoyed a great day of recording together, with 5 songs now having their bed tracks in the can.
